ABSTRACT
Neste trabalho foi avaliada a capacidade dos cirurgiões-dentistas em detectar manipulações em imagens radiográficas digitais. Foram selecionadas cinco imagens radiográficas periapicais e apenas três imagens foram manipuladas. As manipulações foram feitas por meio do programa de edição de imagens Adobe Photoshop versão 7.0. Foram selecionados dez examinadores da faculdade de Odontologia de São José dos Campos - Unesp, que deveriam informar se as imagens foram manipuladas e indicar a região em que houve a manipulação. Os resultados foram estatisticamente significantes nas avaliações das imagens 2, 3 e 5, as quais apresentaram o valor de p<0,05. Portanto concluímos que é muito difícil, os profissionais da área, detectarem as manipulações nas imagens radiográficas.
Our aim on the present paper was to assess the ability of Dentists to detect manipulations of digital radiographic images. Five digital radiographies were selected and manipulated on the Adobe Photoshop v. 7.0 image editor. The manipulated images were submitted for evaluation of 10 examiners at the Dentistry School of São José dos Campos - UNESP. The examiners had to indicate if the images were manipulated or not, and in case of an affirmative answer, they had also to indicate the region were they found the manipulation. The results demonstrated a low percentage of right answers. Statistically significant differences were found for the answers of images 2, 3 and 5 (p<0.05). Therefore, we concluded that it is difficult for Dentists to detect manipulations of digital radiographic images.
